Boise State McNair Scholars Program Objectives
The Boise State McNair Scholars Program has established several key objectives in order to achieve its mission and maintain its vision:
- To serve twenty-five (25) eligible and qualified students each year as McNair Scholars, preparing them for graduate studies with skills, knowledge and dispositions necessary for later success in doctoral programs.
- To retain and graduate each Scholar from Boise State within 3 years of program entry.
- To provide all McNair Scholars the opportunity to engage in faculty-directed research experiences, supported by the Summer Research Fellowship (up to $2800) and other scholarly experiences that impact their preparation for doctoral studies.
- To assist all McNair Scholars in producing a “publishable-quality” paper from the summer research project which s/he will present at professional conferences under the guidance of his/her Faculty Mentor.
- To prepare and support Scholars for admission and enrollment into a post-baccalaureate program immediately after earning their bachelor’s degree.
- To prepare and support Scholars for subsequent success in, and timely completion of, graduate degree programs, culminating in the Ph.D.
