ED-BLESL 600: AGENDA

FALL 2008

Jennifer L. Snow-Gerono, Ph.D.

Associate Professor

Department of Curriculum, Instruction,

 & Foundational Studies

Office: Education 408

Office Hours: By appointment

Office: 208-426-2260

Email: jennifersnow@boisestate.edu

DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE

This graduate capstone seminar will require the students to participate in a 15 hour seminar. Each student is required to write a publishable piece by the end of the seminar session (12/5/2008).

Seminar sessions will be used to engage in discussion, reflection, and dialectical exchange. Students are required to revisit and rewrite their final paper based on seminar discussions. A copy of the final paper will be kept on file in the Bilingual Education Department, to demonstrate student growth and development in the principles of learning. The seminar is Pass/Fail, evaluated with a rubric.

Ultimately, the department wishes to help students become reflective leaders who are familiar with multiple ways of framing issues and concerns related to teaching; skilled in using research to inform and improve their own practice; and strong in communicating with a wide variety of constituencies, including those that speak a language other than English.
