Since Idaho has a large population of Latino/a children, the
Department of Bilingual Education at BSU offers a learning experience to Morelia
- Mexico for Graduate and Undergraduate Students. This excursion doubles as an
anthropological study and personal reflection and professional pedagogy to
better understand teaching practices in our growing multicultural communities.
During this time, students have the chance to observe and
share experiences with Mexican teachers from Centro Universitario de Michoacán (CUDEM), Casa de Hogar el Buen Pastor, La
Escuela de Soledad Gutierres De Figarero, Piaget Instituto Pedagógico and
Instituto Latino de Morelia, AC.
Apart from visiting these schools, students are able
to visit tourist places such as Guanajuato, Coeneo, Patzcuaro,
Tzintzuntzan, Angaguan; spectacular sites with rich history and culture.
